My new home in Chico is part of a brand new subdivision. In fact, our home could not be found on google until a few weeks ago, which made ordering a pizza extremely challenging. No one could find us on the internet or with GPS, which translated to the general public as … impossible.
The pizza delivery guy was not convinced that we existed.
Our home was completed in June 2015. However, our street is far from finished and several homes are in some form of construction even as I type this post. In fact, there are seven homes being worked on within eye shot of my office. All the construction means huge cement trucks and large garbage containers line the street at all times.
It is noisy. It is crowded.
There is a narrow one lane available for all traffic in and out of my cul-de-sac. It’s a nuisance. I’m usually running late and I don’t have time to wait for a forklift to pass through the narrow lane. This causes me stress and frustration.
These are temporary frustrations and the street will eventually be finished. The only traffic in my neighborhood will soon be people who live here. It will be very quiet and peaceful. I am impatient.
I want things to be easy and comfortable… all the time. This is not possible, nor is it really in my best interest.
The work of construction is necessary in order to create something new and beautiful.
It’s messy and time consuming, but worth it.
The Lord is in the processing of making our lives a beautiful reflection of Him. This is a messy and time consuming process. Just like the construction on my street it is noisy, uncomfortable and painful at times. It’s hard to imagine the finished product when we are standing in the middle of the dust and chaos.
Life can be messy and painful.
“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6
We must trust the Lord that the finished product will be worth all the work. #focusedfaith #lifecanbemessy
